Drywall and Finishing Takeoff Worksheet
Room-by-room net area for board, then compound, tape, bead, and screws from the same figures.
Most drywall orders go wrong on the finishing materials rather than the board, because compound and tape scale with seam length instead of area. Recording net area and seam count per room on one sheet gives you both, and the room breakdown tells you how much material to stage in each space.
How to fill it in
- Wall area is perimeter × ceiling height. Add ceilings separately; they are hung first.
- Deduct openings over about 20 square feet only. Small openings are absorbed as waste.
- Choose sheet orientation before counting: horizontal on standard walls means fewer seams to tape.
- Estimate compound from total sheets, and tape from seam length, not from area.
- Note the finish level required — the compound quantity for level 5 is far above level 3.
